Production Planning Major Functions

       Generate Production Planning

This is the process that explodes all demand to determine the material requirements for purchased items, subassembly items and adjusts for inventory on hand or on order.  During this process, the program balances each inventory requirement in multiples of its order quantity, and offsets the net requirements by the appropriate lead times.  Suggested work orders for subassemblies and suggested purchase orders for the components are generated.

        Approve/Combine Manufacturing Orders

This process enables the user to approve or combine MORs for subassembly items by simply “tagging” them.  The system then changes the status of these Manufacturing Orders to firm work orders.

        Approve/Combine Suggested Work Orders

This process enables the user to approve or combine SWOs for subassembly items by simply “tagging” them.  The system then changes the status of these SWOs to firm work orders.

       Approve/Combine Suggested Purchase Orders (SPO)

This process enables the user to approve or combine SPOs for purchased items by simply “tagging” them.  Multiple items may be tagged for a single vendor or multiple vendors at one time.  The system then places the user into a clone of ACCOUNTMATE’s purchase order process to allow editing the purchase order created.

       Planning/Pegging Inquiry

This provides an inquiry screen to show the detail requirements for an inventory item generated by sales orders, purchase orders and firm work orders.   The user can also select whether to include requirements generated by manufacturing orders (MOR), suggested work orders (SWO), suggested purchase orders (SPO), or forecasted demand.

Production Plan - Level One
The Level One Production Plan is included as part of the 12 month Forward Clip Forecast System subscription. The level one planning system is based on your key production figures, such as clip and main line averages, mob numbers and wool cuts per lead.  Your clip parameters are received and forecast lines are calculated by e-wool.
 Production Plan - Level Two
The Level Two Production Plan utilises the 'CAPP' software developed extensively by e-wool.  The CAPP software incorporates both clip analysis and production planning.  This service is provided at an additional cost to the 12 month Forward Clip Forecast system subscription.
The Production Plan Level Two Steps:
1 Clip Analysis
Wool Producers provide details of last year's wool clip test results, mobs and sheep numbers.  This data is loaded into the CAPP software by e-wool.  A Clip Analysis report is then produced.
2 Sheep Plan
Next years mob and sheep numbers are identified and any likely changes to micron, yield, Vm, strengths, etc due to climate or management decisions are made.
3 Production Planning
The Clip Analysis and Sheep/Wool Plan information is then combined to create a production plan for the up coming seasons wool clip.

PLEASE NOTE: As part of the Forward Clip Forecast 12 month subscription, adjustments to your Production Plan can be made throughout the year.

Optimizing Production Planning Considering Various Conditions

Goal: orders or operations are to be dispatched so that existing conditions are met

Production planning often demands that existing conditions, such as material availability, capacity availability or order priorities, are taken into account.

One possible way you can optimize production planning is as follows:

  1. Planning in the SAP R/3 system occurs, for example, using demand management, material requirements planning and/or master production scheduling.
  2. Data exchange SAP R/3 ® external system

    – Selection of all required master data
(materials, bills of material, routings, work centers, etc.)

    – Selection of all required transaction data
(planned orders, current stock/requirements list, run schedule headers, etc.)

  3. Planning and optimization in the external system with the goal to take existing conditions into account:

    – Dates for planned and production orders are set

    – Production versions and routings for respective planned and production orders are determined

    – Planned and production orders can be created or deleted

    – Operation dates are reset

    – Work centers for operations are specified

  4. Data exchange external system ® SAP R/3

– Order start date and/or production version (and routings) of affected planned and production orders are changed in the R/3 System

– Planned and production orders can be created or deleted

– Operation dates are reset
